Special Guests

Born in Ohio, USA. Known as a leading figure in the world of origami, he is one of the pioneers to fuse origami and mathematics, his style has both Western mathematical origami design and Eastern artistic lines and shapes. He is an author of several publications.

Robert J. Lang, an American who has been part of the Tanteidan group for over 30 years and a special guest at the 9th Tokyo Convention in 2003, the 7th Kansai Convention in 2006, and the 19th Tokyo Convention in 2013, will be the special guest at the 30th Origami Tanteidan Convention.
Robert J. Lang lost his home and studio in the Eaton Fire in Altadena, California. Despite this devastating loss, he was able to salvage his famous Black Forest Cuckoo Clock. Mr. Lang, his wife Diane, and their pets were quickly evacuated and forced to sleep in their car. Their home was completely burned, and his studio was reduced to ashes along with decades of highly flammable origami models, research materials, and personal belongings. The couple found solace in humor and the support of their friends. Their friends Michael LaFosse and Richard Alexander of Origami Studio offered to make handmade origami paper for him again. Pending a new contract, Mr. Lang continues to work on his projects from his hotel room. Their focus now is on insurance, documenting lost items, connecting with neighbors, walking their dogs, checking wind direction, monitoring evacuation zone updates on their apps, and securing stable housing. Despite the challenges, they are determined to rebuild their homes and carry on with their lives.
He lost the models for exhibition, but they look forward to meeting you all at the convention.

Born in 1999, in Tübingen, Germany. He became familiar with origami at the young age of 6 and started designing his own models at the age of 7. He is mainly interested in animal designs, and has also recently focused on spotted and striped animals and single-sheet skeletons.

Born in 1993 in Korea. Currently working as a semiconductor engineer, he continues to work as an origami artist. He values incorporating into his models the sensations, mood and atmosphere he receives from various objects, and tries to make use of the unique beauty of origami rather than precise depictions of the objects.
