    One-day trip leaving Tokyo at 8 o'clock and going to Shizuoka to visit Yoshizawa exhibition at Sano Art Museum and a museum of Tokushu Tokai Paper.
    Lunch will be a buffet at Gotemba Kogen Resort.
    The cost (including transportation, admission to the museums, and lunch) will be 6,000-8,000 yen (subject to change according to the size of our group).

8th JOAS Origami Model Competition

We are now accepting your models for the 8th JOAS Origami Model Competition. The theme for the thematic competition has been decided as followings. Send your piece(s) to Gallery Origami House along with your name, address, e-mail address, theme(s) that you are applying for, and title(s) and description(s) of the model(s). Your pieces should arrive by July 31.

JOAS AWARD -Special Theme Prize- : "Evolution"
  • As the origami world is evolving, we expect many origami works that interpret the notion of Evolution in various ways.
JOAS AWARD -Zodiac Prize- : "Sheep"
  • We are accepting origami models of Sheep, which is the zodiac symbol of the next year.
ORIGAMIHOUSE AWARD : "Any origami models"
  • You can submit up to one model to each of the three competitions. (If your model is relevant to more than one theme and you want to submit it to more than one competition, make as many instances of the model as competitions you apply and submit them to each competition.)
  • You can use multiple sheets (specify the number and size(s) of the sheets). Rectangle sheets are allowed, but cuts are not.
  • The piece should be no larger than 30 cm in any dimensions and should be exhibited as is (use supporting material if necessary).
  • The models to be sent must be unpublished original creations by the folder, so please do not publish diagrams, crease patterns or models before the Convention.
  • The JOAS Awards are selected based on the votes of JOAS Board members and the participants of the Convention. The Origamihouse award is selected by Origamihouse.
  • If you are making a model of a copyrighted character, you must have permission from the copyright holder(s).
  • Please send information (your name, age, address, e-mail address, theme(s) that you are applying for, and title(s) and description(s) of the model(s)) by e-mail at compe8@origami.gr.jp and by hardcopy enclosed the model(s).
  • We do not return the models.

Call for Diagrams

As usual, we are accepting diagrams for the convention book from folders all over the world. Send your original diagrams at conv20@origami.gr.jp by June 30, 2014.
Please send diagrams in digital data. Preferable format is either Adobe Illustrator or FreeHand. Templates are available to download.

Please note that submitted diagrams will be screened by our staff members. If your diagrams are published in the convention book, we will send you a complimentary copy, so please let us know your postal address.

6OSME

Just before the 20th Origami Tanteidan convention, from 10 through 13 August, we will have The 6th International Meeting on Origami in Science, Mathematics and Education (6OSME) at the Yayoi Auditorium on the Hongo campus of The University of Tokyo.
