Special Guests

Shuki Kato

Born on Feb. 7, 1990, Shuki Kato first learned about origami from folding paper airplanes and then later from John Montroll’s classic book Origami for the Enthusiast (1979) around age 7. Shortly afterwards, he began designing his own original models through trial and error. In 2006 he shared photos of his work online and eventually published his first diagrams through Origami USA. In 2015 he was honored to accept an invite to the Origami Tanteidan Convention which was the first time he ever attended any origami convention or met other origami enthusiasts. Since then he has been fortunate and privileged enough to attend many others around the world. His works have been featured in Origami Masters Bugs: How the Bug Wars Changed the Art of Origami (2013), Origami City (2015), Origami Tanteidan Convention Vol. 21 (2015), Origami Nature Study (2017) and other various origami convention books.

Kim Young-woong

Born in 2002, I am an origami creator and artist. I run the YouTube channel @origamikimiro, where I communicate the origami making process and the charm of my works in an easy-to-understand way. I collaborate with leading origami artists in Korea, expanding my activities into exhibitions, lectures, hands-on events, and content creation across various fields. In 2026, I hosted the “Kimiro Origami Festival” at Dopamine Station in I’Park Mall Yongsan, attracting over 30,000 visitors in six days, demonstrating the broad appeal of origami to the general public. By effectively linking creative work with popular content, I aim to develop origami beyond a simple hobby into a cultural content form.
